October 2014 - A number of people have asked what I mean by "review sites having bias".

How most of the electronic cigarette review sites work is that they get paid by the e cig companies to effectively market their products by offering the public their reviews.

1. The e cigarette companies pay different commission rates/affiliate fees to the review sites so there is a bias because the review sites benefit more by promoting the e cigarette that pays them the most money.

2. Some review sites have "real users" reviews where the public can offer their reviews of their e cigarette experience. In some cases these reviews are vetted prior to publication so some moderators will only publish those reviews which serve them - again leading to bias. 

There is a hefty incentive to review sites - affiliate fees vary from 10% to a whopping 35% of the purchases you make. The discount coupon given to you by the review site allows the purchases you make to be tracked for the purpose of paying commissions to the review site, alternatively the link you use to get to the e cigarette site has an identifier.

This is why you need to consider the real savings you make when using e cigarettes rather than normal cigarettes - any initial 10% or 15% discount you get is nothing as compared to the potential health benefits and actual savings you make over a year - check out the savings calculator at the best e-cig site.

One other issue that is more and more in the news - is that of quality. UK Government is pushing for legislation on electronic cigarettes to be classed as a medical product. Irrespective of the arguments for and against this approach - we are all responsible for ensuring what we are vaping is not going to do more harm than smoking. Many e liquids come from China and are sold into our market  and then  re-branded by many e cig sellers and 

e liquid sellers - WHAT IS IN THESE ELiquids - I dont know - do you? Make sure that the e liquid you are vaping has independent laboratory testing - most don't but some do - again all this is covered in much greater detail on the review site in the links above.
